Hello! Here I am, a 50+ year old mother of four, beginning to discover life after raising children. I consider this my “Chapter 3”. Think of a Chapter as roughly 25 years. Chapter 1 was my childhood and the beginning of my married life. Chapter 2 consisted of giving birth, raising children, and seeing my last baby reach her eighteenth birthday. While working, living, sleeping, and breathing as a full-time care-giver for the past 25 years, I’ve also dabbled in poetry, writing, photography, gardening, singing and bird-watching. Now, in Chapter 3, I can do more than dabble. And I’m excited about the possibilities!
I write this blog primarily for my own benefit, in order to get my head wrapped around the idea of myself as a separate living entity. I also write so that those who have already “been there, done that” may offer hope, encouragement, and other comments. And for those who are with me (or soon to be with me) in redefining their roles as women, wives, mothers, and adult children, I hope to strike a familiar chord or two.
Thank you so much for following my blog and I have to follow you because we are both 50 plus mother’s of four and in what you describe as chapter three which resonates. It also resonates that the first piece of writing I saw of yours announced that the snow arrived on December 29th. It certainly did as some sort of perverse welcome to me on my flight from Paris to start this Chapter …. l look forward to reading more of yours and welcoming you to my cuckoo world too!
I love that you call it your Chapter 3. I am in a similar life stage as you and hubby and I call ours our 3rd Act. I also love your gratitude posts.
I like that: your 3rd Act! Thanks for visiting my blog. 🙂
Chris, your decorated house looks lovely.
I need to search for my Advent Wreath.
Thanks, Carol – I assume this is in response to https://womanwifemotherchildchapter3.wordpress.com/2020/11/30/so-this-is-advent-2020/ and not to my “about” page.
🙂 Peace
