Gratitude Spiral: Day 211

Today, I’m grateful for tiny apples on the apple trees.

They’re starting to look more like the delicious fruit they’ll become when fully grown. Looking forward to the fall!

Gratitude Spiral: Day 146

Today, I’m grateful for horticultural oil.

I’d never heard of it, until I needed it. We’ve got a couple of small apple trees in our yard and, one year, we came home from a vacation in May to find the trees defoliated by insects. That’s when I learned about horticultural oil and its main property of smothering the eggs of offending insects. Last year, I got lazy and didn’t spray. The apples suffered. So, yesterday I sprayed, hoping to give the trees a chance to do what they do best. 🙂

August Treasures

Every August, I look forward to the blooming of the hibiscus at the corner of my front yard, with it’s lunch-plate sized blossoms. It never disappoints!

The Rose of Sharon trees follow suit.
