Gratitude Spiral: Day 273

Today, I’m grateful for homemade bread.

Years ago, I met a complete stranger in a store parking lot and bought a used bread machine he was offering on Craigslist for $20. Money well-spent. I used it a lot, at first. But now, it sits in the cupboard most of the time. When the local grocery store was out of my favorite bread this week, I remembered my clunky old bread machine. Yesterday, the house filled with the smell of oats and cinnamon, and I confess to serving myself three slices of bread with supper. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 203

Today, I’m grateful for poultry seasoning.

In my younger days, I thought the name meant it somehow contained chicken. Oops! Now, although I do use it on chicken, I realize it can be used for other dishes, as well. The blended aroma of sage, thyme, & other spices lends a comforting homeyness to any dish. And the kitchen smells so good when it’s cooking. 🙂
