Gratitude Spiral: Day 220

Today, I’m grateful for the Fourth of July, a celebration of this country I call home. We’re far from perfect, as recent events have made unquestionably clear. But it’s still the country where we strive to live up to the ideals of true freedom and equality for all. And I’m thankful for this.

Gratitude Spiral: Day 190

Today, I’m grateful for the right to peaceful protest in this country.

My heart is heavy; my gut twists at the injustice that continues to plague our society. But, I’m amazed at the number of people able to march peacefully when anger and outrage are their constant companions. I’m grateful that speaking out, protesting publicly, is allowed in this country. And I’m hopeful that protests spark change.

Gratitude Spiral: Day 180

Today, Memorial Day in the USA, I’m grateful for the men and women who have sacrificed everything to protect the freedoms we enjoy in this country. I feel blessed to live here and to exercise those freedoms.
