Gratitude Spiral: Day 306

Today, I’m grateful for the resources to expand my garden.

We have enough room in our yard to carve out some more garden space and the tools and time it takes to get the job done. I’m thankful for those blessings. And excited for the final results.

Gratitude Spiral: Day 302

Today, I’m grateful for frozen fruit in my morning shake.

Most of the fruit in my shake is fruit I froze myself. Some is from my garden and some is from a friend’s. Freezing it thickens the shake, making a very satisfying breakfast accompaniment to a bowl of steel cut oats. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 287

Today, I’m grateful for a friend sharing her gifts of abundant ripe raspberries and beautiful painting talent.

It’s not often that one receives two generous blessings in the same day from a friend. Dawn grows a wildly amazing garden and offered her raspberries for my picking pleasure. She also created beautiful watercolors as she practiced pandemic art while out of work recently. And I now have a unique dragonfly to hang on my wall. Two blessings. One lovely friend. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 282

Today, I’m grateful for weeding.

No, not so grateful for the weeds themselves. But the act of weeding, pulling up crabgrass, roots and all, reveals what the garden is supposed to look like.  And it’s amazingly satisfying.

Gratitude Spiral: Day 280

Today, I’m grateful for green beans from the garden.

I was about to give up on my bean plants this summer. The teepee structure I roped together for them got blown sideways during a recent storm and the plants didn’t seem to want to produce any beans. So, I stopped looking. What a surprise to find them covered with beans when I finally checked again the other day. 🙂

Today, I’m grateful for the taste of fresh cucumbers.

From garden to table. Need I say more?

Gratitude Spiral: Day 247

Today, I’m grateful for the long green cucumbers getting longer and fatter in my garden every day. Can’t wait to taste one. 😉

Gratitude Spiral: Day 245

Today, I’m grateful for the first small green butternut squash growing in my garden this season.

Hopefully, the local groundhog is long gone and won’t devour it, like he or she did last summer.

Gratitude Spiral: Day 244

Today, I’m grateful for potatoes from my garden.

I’ve tried growing potatoes on & off for years. This year, I’m trying again. It’s pretty easy, but it can be disappointing when blight or potato scab taint the crop. This year, I’m finding a little of both, but I’m still getting edible produce. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 211

Today, I’m grateful for tiny apples on the apple trees.

They’re starting to look more like the delicious fruit they’ll become when fully grown. Looking forward to the fall!
