Gratitude Spiral: Day 299

Today, I’m grateful for a new patch on my old jeans.

I use an old pair of jeans for yard work. It keeps the rest of my jeans from growing holes. I’m not a big fan of holey jeans. I know, for some people it’s a fashion statement. For me, it’s just an unfortunate annoyance. So yesterday, I was thrilled that I was able to sew a large patch of newer denim over the thin, torn front of my old jeans—and to be able to sew the entire thing on my machine! I didn’t think it’d be possible, but it worked. And then I knelt on the ground for three hours, weeding. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 198

Today, I’m grateful for old things becoming new.

We accumulate so much “stuff” in a lifetime. My siblings and I are helping our parents clean out their house to get it ready for sale. So much of their “stuff” is still useful, but they have no room or need of it in their new place. We’ve been giving things away, little by little. It’s heartening to know that others can use or repurpose what they no longer need. I’m thankful we don’t have to trash it all.
