Gratitude Spiral: Day 185

Today, I’m grateful for the view from our back deck.

I’m so thankful for the expanse of trees behind our house. It affords privacy, but, even better, a natural & peaceful view. Sitting out there on a a breezy spring day is such a treat!

Today, I’m grateful for blooming lilacs.

They remind me of my daughter who wanted to get married when the lilacs were in bloom. And she did — six years ago yesterday.

Today, I’m grateful for the gift of Mother’s Day plants delivered by one of my daughters yesterday.

It’s been colder than normal in New England this spring, so I can’t plant them in the ground yet. There’s a threat of frost one night this coming week. But I look forward to adding them to my gardens. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 156

Today, I’m grateful for the beginning of May.

It comes with the hope, if not the immediate promise, of warmer weather. And all this social-distancing fuels a craving to be outdoors in the sunshine — six feet apart, of course.

Today, I’m grateful for the tiny blossoms on our apple trees.

Now that the apple trees have been sprayed with horticultural oil, I can enjoy the blossoms as they grow, and I can look forward to apples (hopefully) in the fall..

Gratitude Spiral: Day 135

Today, I’m grateful for all the signs of spring I see on my morning walks.

Early bulbs have sprouted and blossomed; rhododendron and forsythia are blooming; and even the flowering trees are covered in big fat buds. Every morning brings more color. Nothing compares.

Gratitude Spiral: Day 127

Today, I’m grateful for the promise that new buds hold.

These buds on our lilac bush are waiting for just the right combination of sun and rain, time and light, to open. The buds are a promise of the beauty to come if we would just have patience. And I’m looking forward to it. 🙂

Today, I’m grateful for rhododendron buds.

It seems too early, but I can already see the purple just waiting to burst through and cover the rhododendron bush with blossoms. 🙂
