Gratitude Spiral: Day 334

Today, I’m grateful for connecting with friends on Zoom.

After months of social distancing, some friends that I used to see on a regular basis last spring, have settled into the new normal and are using Zoom to get together now. It’s good to see them again, even if it’s only on a screen. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 155

Today, I’m grateful for new songs to learn.

My a cappella chorus can’t meet in real-time these days. We meet once a week via video chat, but it’s not really conducive to singing in harmony. So, while we wait to be together again, we’ve got a couple of songs to learn individually. It’s not as much fun, this singing alone, but it’s something. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 149

Today, I’m grateful for new ways to celebrate birthdays.

With social distancing, comes a new challenge: how to make birthdays special for friends and family. I’ve seen neighbors decorate their cars and head out for birthday parades. Last night, I attended a virtual birthday party via Zoom. I’ll bet a lot more people have revived the traditional sending of birthday cards, too. And I’ve made it a point to mail Birthday Rocks to my friends. I’m thankful there are ways to make someone feel special on their birthday during this time of isolation and distancing. 🙂

Gratitude Spiral: Day 142

Today, I’m grateful for the baritone section of my barbershop chorus.

Last night, I got to see them all via a Zoom video chat. It’s strange to get together without singing together, but it lifted my spirits to touch base with them anyway.

Gratitude Spiral: Day 116

Today, I’m grateful for all the video chat apps, like Zoom, Facetime, & Skype.

In this time of self-quarantining and social-distancing, they’re a great help in preventing social isolation. I visited with chorus-mates on Zoom this past week, used Xroom to meet with friends, and even “Facetimed” with my octogenarian parents. Though nothing really replaces a hug, these will do for now. 🙂
